Our pupils shine in the Mother Tongue Other Tongue project!

This year marked our inaugural involvement in the Mother Tongue Other Tongue project organised by the Manchester Poetry Library at Manchester Metropolitan University. We are thrilled and immensely proud to announce that all of our pupils’ entries have been shortlisted to be featured in the project’s anthology of poems.

Paying tribute to the renowned Greek poet, Yiannis Ritsos, our Novice 2 and Intermediate classes dedicated their efforts to the poem ‘If all children on Earth’ and crafted posters honouring peace, diversity and solidarity. The GCSE class drew inspiration from Ritsos’ poem ‘Peace’ and produced original poems centred around the theme of love. Well done to all the pupils who submitted an entry and thank you to our wonderful teachers for bringing poetry into the classroom.

Thank you to the Manchester Poetry Library for organising this remarkable initiative and we look forward to the anthology.
